The Dieter’s Corner

Psychologists Janet Polivy and H. Peter Herman found that people persist at the same kind of self-change efforts even when previous outcomes using these strategies resulted in failure.

They call this phenomenon false hope, and they have identified some of its causes. Perhaps the biggest contributor to the false hope/failure pattern is being unrealistic about the weight loss process. Being unrealistic includes such things as expecting to do too much too fast, having unreasonable goals, and not being flexible enough to adjust your strategy as you go.

So here’s our Question of the Month for you…

CAN YOU MAKE A WEIGHT LOSS DIET PLAN THAT IS SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT FROM PLANS THAT HAVE FAILED YOU BEFORE?

Other women would love to hear what you have to say. Please share your answer by emailing it to newsletter@mariaslastdiet.com.
