Diet adherence (aka sticking to your diet) is a significant factor in the success of any dieting strategy. But what is the effect of diet adherence on actual weight-loss success?

Research reported in the International Journal of Obesity in February 2008 having to do with diet adherence concluded: No matter what diet the research subjects were assigned, the 12-month weight loss was greater in those who had the highest level of adherence.

Finding ways to increase dieting adherence, therefore, is a lot more important than the specific food composition of any weight-loss diet itself.
