Maria is a fictionalized account of a woman's struggles with food, dieting and weight loss. Maria is an "everywoman". Her story is revealing. It shows how deeply the force of eating and weight problems can affect your life.
We offer the story of Maria to provide inspiration and understanding to women who want and need to lose weight. It tells the inner secrets of a life that you can relate to. Who is behind MariasLastDiet.com?
The founders of Maria's Last Diet are Ken and Julie Schwarz.
Kenneth Schwarz, Ph.D. is a psychologist and psychoanalyst specializing in personal change and goal achievement. He received his doctoral degree from New York University and completed his postdoctoral training at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. Dr. Schwarz holds a certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.
Dr. Schwarz is in private practice in Connecticut and is a member of the allied health staff at Sharon Hospital. He was formerly Director of Psychology at Dutchess Medical Practice and Foothills Family Health Center in Dutchess County, New York. He also co-founded Clear View, a day treatment center for children and their families in Westchester County, New York.
Dr. Schwarz is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Connecticut Psychological Association, the Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and the Psychoanalytic Association of the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
Julie Schwarz majored in psychology as an undergraduate and put that on hold to become a songwriter. Her credits include pop songs recorded in the United States and Europe, children's songs for television, and works for musical theater. Two albums of children's songs are on the Folkways label at the Smithsonian Institute.
Julie is a psychology technician at Dutchess Psychology Practice where she has been studying issues related to women and dieting.
